DeneenMatthewslgThis week, my daughter, Deneen G. Matthews, Editor-in-chief of DeeClare Publishing, LLC is providing our blog post. She will expound upon creative entrepreneurship through publishing:

In support of the Elder’s Ledger, the village and it’s stated priorities of God, Family and Community, I would like to steer your attention to creative ways to enter into entrepreneurship.

My father has done an outstanding job at his attempts to influence the idea of entrepreneurship as a means to create wealth and opportunities for employment within our villages, our communities. We not only desire to encourage others, but hope to be the example of the hard work, collective effort and perseverance necessary to accomplish such aspirations.

DeeClare Publishing, LLC is one of the avenues by which we hope to set this example. It has served as our prototype by which we share with each of you. The initiation into publishing first came about by way of our graphic design and web development arm, Deesignz.

I encountered several instances where authors were directed to me and expressed grave concerns and dissatisfaction with the path they were led down with regard to publishing. Two of the major complaints were (1) that they did not own their work, (2) that they were not profiting from their own literary efforts.

DeeClare has taken much of this into consideration while developing our business model and services offerings. Much of what we do is provide education around publishing while offering services and best practice direction to our authors.

We have now developed an entrepreneurial opportunity for authors. Whether you produce one written work or several, why not turn it into a small business opportunity? Why not earn tax credit? How about you own your work and retain the bulk of the profit?

We are now developing packages to promote the services associated with what we have termed Authorpreneurship™.

  • Ode to the Community Consumer

local 2974159 1280The blog post this week is directed toward the consumers,  yes, the customers. We have a tendency to be very hard on the merchants in our community. We place more stringent rules and guidelines for patronage on our local merchants than on the larger stores and mall merchants we often frequent.

  • Consumption & Waste

pexels photo 802221Today, let’s talk about CONSUMPTION and WASTE. These fall in line with stewardship and causes us to examine what we do with what we have. The answer isn’t necessarily that we need more money or even more income, but that we better regulate the use of what we already have.

  • Are We Chasing Our Young People Out of the Community?

graduate 2197406 1280This blog post again references the need for the support of local businesses, expansion and job creation within our communities. Tell me, what’s the incentive for our young people entering the work force to remain a part of the village? What do they have to invest in? What is there for them to build upon? Are we actually supporting a premise for them to desire to leave and never look back?

  • Learning IS the Institution

A great deal of effort and expense is invested in education; in learning, which is indeed a necessary tool in order to contend and compete in the workforce or any specialized area of study or interest.

I believe it is vital to bring LEARNING outside of the established norms. We must make learning the INSTITUTION as opposed to relying solely on learning institutions.
